Maricopa Is Fastest Growing City in AZ
The results of the 2010 census have been released and they show that Maricopa Arizona was easily the fastest growing city in Arizona. In addition, Pinal County, in which Maricopa AZ is located, more than doubled in size.
Maricopa grew from around 1,000 people in the 2000 census to over 43,000, a leap of over 4,000%! It should be noted that most of this growth occurred when the developers came to town in 2002 and began to build subdivisions in, waht at the time, was a small agricultural town. The population quickly grew to around 35,000 in a few short years. When the housing market “tanked” in 2006, the population dwindled a bit. However over the last few years, drawn by the incredible values due to the number of foreclosures and short sales, buyers have returned in large numbers to take advantage of the great deals.
Besides the windfall of federal dollars that will now be allocated to Maricopa based on this new population figure, Maricopa Arizona also expects to benefit from the interest it will now receive by companies that rely on these figures to determine whether to open a business here. Though a lot of the basic infrastructure is in place, there is still need for such things as a movie theater, sit down restaurants, building supply (such as Lowes or Home Depot) and more. The abundance of vacant land in the area should help.
