Maricopa Medical Center Ground Breaking

Banner Health held a ground breaking ceremony on July 23, 2011 for a Maricopa Health Center Facility that has been 5 years in the making. Due to be completed summer of next year, this center will be over 40,000 square feet and include eight permanent physicians as well as several PA’s and doctors in rotation.

The Chief Medical Officer who will be managing the center is Bruce Bethancourt. He agrees that this center will be a much needed addition to health services in the Maricopa area. With the addition of pediatric, cancer and cardiac care specialists, Maricopa will be a full service medical center location for the Maricopa area.

Many thanks were given to the city of Maricopa for their combined effort and patience making this vision a reality. Credit went to Dr. Ioanna Morfessis who began the development process and moved the process to an IF rather than a WHEN back in 2009. After the photo opportunity of those involved showing the shoveling of dirt, there was some speeches from seven Maricopa children who had been chosen for this even and they also placed cones to show the site’s perimeter. This center will show the community the need for care of children with special needs and diabetic care.

To begin the staffing the Medical Center will have two pediatricians, two internists, two nurse practitioners, two family practitioners, and two OB/GYN physicians. This will also be part of a rotation from other medical facilities around the Phoenix area to allow for a variety of specialists to treat and care for all patients.

Early and late hours from Monday through Thursday, plus Saturday hours will be offered and X-rays will be available, although an emergency care unit is not planned, nor will MRI and CT scans be part of the beginning services.

This is going to be a great addition to the Maricopa area. Maricopa is a growing and thriving community built for families of all ages.
